The 1964-65 New York World's Fair was at Flushing Meadows (map), on the same site as the 1939-40 World's Fair. Most of the pavilions have long since been demolished, but the Singer Bowl (now the Louis Armstrong Stadium), the Unisphere, the New York State pavilion (now a derelict), the New York City pavilion (now a museum), and a few other structures remain.

For more on the Fair, see the amazingly detailed site www.nywf64.com. (It's strangely set up; make sure you notice the small links at the bottom of the pages that take you from page to page.)

My visit to the Fair was in July, 1964. I lugged my new Konica FP SLR and the two lenses I had (plus a Spiratone Telxtender) in a heavy plywood suitcase that I made myself from instructions in a Popular Science magazine article. I processed the film in my home darkroom (a modified basement bathroom) and printed most of them at the time.

In 2007 I scanned the negatives with a Minolta DiMAGE Scan Dual IV and post-processed them with Photoshop and Lightroom. This gallery shows eight of the 100 or so pictures I took. If you're curious, you can see the whole collection on Smugmug.
